Weekly Perspective Shifting, Resources, & Opportunities for Rebel Entrepreneurs & World Changers

Hey Reader,

Welcome to The Vision Underground -

My semi monthly newsletter community designed for Rebel Entrepreneurs and World Changers like you!

How are you learning?

Today is "Smart is Cool day."

I'm not exactly sure what that truly entails, but It inspired something in me, and since I didn't send an email last week I thought I'd send one to you today.

In a world of "woke this" and "Anti-Woke" and artificial intelligence

Maybe it's my 5/1 profile in Human Design, but I find this "anti-woke" thing to be heartbreaking.

I hoard knowledge - and yes, I mean that - I just tracked my home library the other day - in books, DVDs, and CDs alone I have 978 items for my library. Watching Book Burning hurts my sould - The library of Alexandria - all that information just lost... Ahh! I seriously don't know what I would do.

I have always tried to expand my horizon - Thanks six flags and pizza hut, for your reading program growing up.

To add to the anti -woke heartbreak - When i was younger, people would say "Wake Up!" to delineate my naivety in the midst of an argument. I've spent my whole life trying to be "smart."

But Intelligence isn't a measure of worth

AI is packed with all the knowledge we can give it - but it's still not human.

With how much I've championed for myself I also champion for other people. I've been doing this for a really long time. I was reminded by a client this week about how I was sent to the principals office in High School because a Math teacher told a friend she was stupid. It had nothing to do with me, but I could see the value in my friend and her intelligence. Plus... A TEACHER - calling a child stupid because she wasn't understanding the way you TEACH?!

This person wasn't the best in math, but she was incredibly smart in other areas.

There is a conflict with "Smart is cool"

I think leaning into your gifts is cool - period.

Helping people understand their gifts so they don't get lost in the quest for intelligence is incredibly important to me. I like to consider myself a pretty smart person but that's not what makes me cool... what makes me cool is that I'm a unique individual who has a big heart. What makes me cool is that I embrace what makes me different.

I'd rather be woke than intellectually smart

"Woke" by google machine's definition is to emerge from a state of sleep; stop sleeping.

And while I LOVE sleep - I also appreciate the way in which I have "woken" from my slumber.

I believe that society as a whole has woke up and I don't think we can be put back to sleep.

Both in the terms of social justice, and personally.

Spiritually and emotionally, so many of my connections are wide awake. Many of them are deep in their own spiritual and self love journies. And personally, what I've found is that being truly confident and smart has a lot more to do with knowing yourself and letting go of the mental gymnastics that we go through.

Can you imagine someone telling you, after all you've learned in your life - all of the realizations and epiphanies - that you should just go back to how you used to be?

Hell no - I woke up to who I am - Not to who society wanted me to conform to be but to who I am as a person.

It's not over

I am not fully awake, and I don't know if I'll ever be, but I most definitely will never stop trying. Part of that process is continuing to learn - reading, taking classes, exploring, trusting myself and my intuition.

All of these things provide a guiding light for me to continue to wake up.

Here are three people who have instrumentally helped me to wake up the kind of "smart" that I wanted to be. These are just some of the people who have helped me to be me, but their help and assistance was instrumental in my own growth and impact.
